Pure Steam used for sterilisation must comply with the non-condensable gas (NCG) requirements of EN 285 and HTM 2010 — no more than 3.5% v/v of gas in the Pure Steam condensate. Where the feed water carries a meaningful dissolved gas load, a dedicated feed water degassing system is the most direct way to secure that compliance.
Gases dissolved in the feed water (CO₂, O₂, N₂) are carried into the Pure Steam during generation. Excess NCG impair steam penetration during sterilisation cycles and can lead to failed steam quality tests. Degassing the feed water addresses this risk at the source.
